Green Aventurine crystals are also used to bring financial success and luck in gambling. Description: Aventurine is a form of quartz, characterized by its translucency and the presence of platy mineral inclusions that give it a shimmering or glistening effect termed aventurescence. The most common color of Aventurine is green, but it can also be orange, brown, yellow, blue, or gray. Chrome-bearing fuchsite (a variety of muscovite mica) is the classic inclusion and gives a silvery green or blue sheen. Oranges and browns are attributed to hematite or goethite. Aventurine is often banded and an overabundance of fuchsite may render it opaque, in which case it may be mistaken for malachite at first glance. The name Aventurine derives from the Italian word a ventura, which means “by chance”. The majority of blue-green Aventurine originates in India (particularly in the vicinity of Mysore and Chennai) where it is employed by prolific artisans. Creamy white, gray and orange material is found in Chile, Spain and Russia. Aventurine is also found in Brazil, Europe, Tanzania, and across northern Asia. Most material is carved into beads and figurines with only the finer examples fashioned into cabochons, later being set into jewelry. CLEANSING AND CHARGING Be sure to cleanse your Aventurine when received, and charge with your own energy and intentions. Use your feather fan to waft over it the smoke of purifying incense. Use sound vibrations from a singing bowl, bells, or tingsha chimes while quickly and carefully passing through the flame of a Green candle. Place in a (preferably Selenite or Clear Quartz, just not any kind of metal) bowl on top of a bed of dead sea salt and leave soaking in the moonlight for at least four hours. Remove from the bowl, rinse for 30 seconds in (ideally natural, like a stream or in the rain) running water, then gently dry with a cloth (BE CAREFUL with stones that may easily scratch). Hold in your left hand (if wearing for receiving intentions) or right hand (if wearing for emitting intentions) and meditate your intentions and energy onto the stones for half an hour. Alternatively, cleanse by smudging then holding under running water (or leaving out in rainwater) for at least 30 seconds, dry, and gently place in a bed of sea salt on a windowsill after sunset for a few hours. Avoid exposure to harsh chemicals and cleaning products. Because your gemstones can absorb negative energy, avoid allowing others to touch or handle them and be sure to cleanse regularly.
